The aim of this research is to investigate whanau use of te reo Maori in order to support, inform and influence current and future intergenerational transmission of te reo Maori. The purpose is to contribute to the revitalisation of te reo Maori. The objectives of this research are to:
- Gather the stories of members of whanau to gain an understanding of language journeys and perspectives.
- Examine key and common themes emerging from participant narratives.
- Provide a robust discussion and recommendations to contribute to, inform and influence current and future intergenerational transmission of te reo Maori.
The overarching research question I aim to address is: How can whanau experiences ofte reo Maori loss and, where applicable, reclamation, influence future intergenerational transmission of te reo Maori?
