Overview

This internship project investigated how being in state care has affected Māori communities, focusing on the long-term trauma it has caused. The intern looked at official reports and data to see how these experiences have shaped views on poverty and influenced how people see Māori facing hardships.

The goal was to better understand these issues using Māori approaches and perspectives, highlighting how past wrongs can be addressed and guiding future actions to support healing and fairness. This research aimed to bring these important conversations to the wider public, encouraging understanding and change.
