On Thursday 25th July, the Tertiary Education Commission (TEC) formally announced the next Centre of Research Excellence (CoRE) funding round details. See the announcement here.

We were very pleased to see the details and had been awaiting this announcement, which is central to our plans to secure the future of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga, as New Zealand’s Māori Centre of Research Excellence.

In the TEC announcement it is stated that “The 2019/20 funding will support the work of up to ten CoREs and includes specific funding for a CoRE focused on Māori research”.

NPM has been developing and working on our next strategic plan and research priorities over recent months, and have been sharing and discussing at wānanga with investigators, research leaders, NPM partners and the Board - our ideas, research and the strategies required for NPM’s next phase from 2021 to 2029.

We have much more to do, but with our engaged leaders and researchers we are in a confident position as a strong national collective, to develop and evolve NPM, our research, outcomes and impact further to ensure Flourishing Māori Futures.

We will be holding a series of hui throughout the country for our researchers and partners over the coming months in all the main centres. Stay tuned to our regualr e-news and social media for confirmation of dates, places, times. If you wish to attend please email info@maramatanga.ac.nz

We are looking forward to further developing NPM's vision and future with our leaders, researchers and communities over the coming months.
