    Celebrating 20 years of being Aotearoa New Zealand’s only Indigenous Centre of Research Excellence, Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga (NPM) are excited to invite you to join us online from 15 – 18 November 2022 for our 2nd virtual and 10th International Indigenous Research Conference (IIRC).

  • Congratulations to the recipients announced in today's Royal Society Te Apārangi awards list with a special mention to our preeminent Māori scholars (see list below) who've been recognised for their outstanding research achievements.

  • This year's 2021-2022 New Horizons Raumati (Summer) Internship Programme is about to start with another outstanding group of aspiring emerging Māori researchers.

    This summer they will be working with NPM Researchers from around the country engaged in an exciting range of projects that align to the NPM Matakitenga research programme and contribute to the mission of NPM which is to create the foundations for flourishing Māori futures.

  • Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga has partnered with the team at The Spinoff to bring an exciting new series that shares our research and shows how Mātauranga Māori is shaping the future of Aotearoa.

    We begin by returning to our roots. 'Ko Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga tēnei: The beating heart of mātauranga Māori' that chronicles our incredible journey to date.

  • The 2nd research profile in our Spinoff partnership series features a project led by Dr Shaun Awatere of Manaaki Whenua and an interview with Zak Horomia who speaks about the impacts he's observed from climate change to Hinemaurea Marae in Mangatuna, Uawa.  Read the article here: "A threat to our identity: The impact of climate change on Māori"

  • Fulbright New Zealand and Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga New Zealand’s Māori Centre of Research Excellence are delighted to announce that Dr Will Flavell (Ngā Puhi, Ngāti Whatua, Tainui, Ngāti Maniapoto) is the 2022 recipient of the Fulbright-Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga Scholar Award to undertake research in the US.

  • To contribute to increasing Māori postgraduate scholarship in law, the Borrin Foundation has partnered with Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga. A pool of $80,000 is available annually to support a Māori scholar to pursue a post-graduate degree in law at a New Zealand university or at an overseas institution.

  • Te Pūtahitanga - a nationwide collective of Māori scientists and researchers responded to the Ministry of Business, Innovation & Employment's (MBIE) Te Ara Paerangi - Future Pathways Green Paper  - a multi-year programme focused on the future of New Zealand’s research system. The programme seeks to start an open and wide-ranging conversation on a range of issues facing the research system, how these issues might be addressed, and how to take advantage of emerging opportunities. 

  • The University of Canterbury Mauriora Platform Research Team, in conjunction with Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga is hosting a one-day, online symposium to celebrate the culmination of two and a half years research by the Te Rū Rangahau team
