Establishing a space-time dataset as the basis for assessing future spatial changes in indigenous agroecology practice

Project commenced:

Intern Mariana Pagan will work with Dr Marion Johnson, CSAFE Otago University during summer 2012-13. This project will scope and implement the collection and storage of land cover spatial data using Geographic Information System (GIS) and Global Positioning System (GPS) technologies. The project will be based on Te Putahi, Banks Peninsula a case study farm for the Indigenous Agroecolgy project. This project has two purposes to form a baseline data set against which future space-time changes can be measured and assessed, and to form a contextual dataset for the Indigenous Agroecology programme in their project to develop a new agroecological method. Mariana will also work closely with Dr Tony Moore at the School of Surveying, University of Otago.
