2018 NPM Doctoral Bridging Grants

NPM Doctoral Bridging Grants have closed for 2018. Please check back in early 2019.

Purpose: NPM's Doctoral Bridging Grants are designed to provide assistance to PhD candidates to complete and submit their doctoral thesis, or to prepare and publish outputs from their doctoral research.

Eligibility: Applicants must be Māori researchers who are based at one of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga's Partner Institutions and who are currently registered and in the final year of their doctoral degree; or who have recently submitted a thesis for examination or recently completed the final requirements for a doctoral degree and wish to publish their work.

Candidates who are in receipt of any other significant income during this period of doctoral completion or publishing are not eligible.

Tenure: up to 3 months maximum.

Value: up to $2500 per award. At least 5 awarded.

Applications: Applications close 26 April 2018 at 5 pm. 

Applicants should allow one month for the application selection process to take place after the advertised closing date. Applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application at the earliest opportunity.

  • Proposed programme of work
  • Two page (max) Curriculum Vitae with the names and contact details of two referees
  • Cover letter including your research achievements and future plans
  • Supervisor's support letter

Proposed Programme of Work

Outline the following (do not exceed three pages):

  1. A brief description of the planned programme of work including:
  1. the specific publication aims and objectives
  2. the innovations and significance of the work
  3. how the objectives will be achieved (specific targets)
  4. the nature and extent of collaboration
  1. The expected outcome/s and impact of this work, specifically contribution to Māori communities
  2. Outline any income you have and the length of tenure you would like.

 Briefly describe how the study aligns with the Research Themes of Ngā Pae o te Māramatanga
